A typical black Dolerus sawfly, but distinguished by having red thighs.
Found in flower meadows, where they may be seen on various flowers.
Adults peak in May and June.
Widespread in Britain.
Rare or under recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland. The Narborough record of 9.5.2017 is the first for VC55.
