Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Wood

We've been updating our Wild Places pages again - the NatureSpot directory of where to find wildlife in Leicestershire and Rutland. Read more...

We've added a lot of new sites recently, in particular we added around 15 sites in Glenfield as part of our partnership with the parish council (enter Glenfield in the Site Name search box on the Wild Places menu page). Overall these sites represent an impressive network of open spaces being managed for wildlife. Some of these are part of the growing number of flood relief features being created around new developments in Leicestershire. These often contain a good mixture of wetland species and so are well worth investigating if there's one near you.

We've also added a page for the Woodland Trust's Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Wood which has been written by Melinda Bell, a new volunteer. This is a big site rich in many different taxa and it's well worth a visit - especially as it's a seriously under-recorded place at present.
