Galeruca tanaceti

Description

Size 6 to 10 mm. A shiny black beetle with dimpled elytra. Elytra wider at hind end, especially in the female, where abdomen may protrude beyond the elytra.

Habitat

Roadside verges and other grassy places, often in quite dry conditions.

When to see it

April to September.

Life History

Feeds on Yarrow and other composites.

UK Status

Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.

VC55 Status

Infrequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were only 8 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
